Tickets are still available for purchase for the historic match, taking place from Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1.

The leading female amateur golfers from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States of America will meet in the 43rd Curtis Cup match at Sunningdale on August 30 to September 1.

The biennial encounter is taking place at the renowned Berkshire venue. And GB&I are bidding to win the famous trophy for the first time since 2016 when the team secured a 11½-8½ victory at Dún Laoghaire in Ireland.

This is your chance to walk the fairways with the future stars of golf and witness golfing history by attending.

The Curtis Cup is the most prestigious team trophy for women amateur golfers. First held in 1932, the match play content – featuring foursomes, four-balls and singles – sees 20 points up for grabs.

Catriona Matthew OBE, the two-time winning Solheim Cup captain, leads GB&I with Meghan Stasi looking forward to bringing over her American team.

The USA have won the last three Curtis Cup matches, most recently at Merion on home soil in 2022, as Matthew chases a famous win for the hosts this coming week.

Since it began, many of the world’s greats have competed in the prestigious match play contest, including Matthew, Dame Laura Davies and AIG Women’s Open Champion Georgia Hall.

Player to watch - Lottie Woad

Lottie Woad

English player and local favourite Lottie Woad – currently the world’s number one amateur player – is among the top players to watch.

As the first European winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur back in April, Surrey native Woad continues to catch the eye with her golfing exploits.

The 20-year-old from Farnham reached the top of the world amateur standings earlier this summer, helped by her success at Augusta.

“It means so much,” she said at the time of her victory at such a famous golfing venue. “I watched this event when I was younger so I always wanted to play in it, try and contend and then to win it was just really special.”

Earlier this week, Woad won the Mark H McCormack Medal as the leading woman in the World Amateur Golf Ranking® (WAGR®) for 2024.

Woad is the first winner of the women’s McCormack Medal from England and she receives exemptions into the US Women’s Open and the AIG Women’s Open in 2025.

Now Woad has the Curtis Cup in her sights. “I haven’t played in a Curtis Cup before so this is my first one,” she added. “I feel like team golf’s always really fun and I’m looking forward to Sunningdale.”

Woad spends most of her time in the United States of America where she is currently at Florida State University. She has enjoyed a host of top-ten finishes in the USA this year and has played in major championships among the professionals.

Other leading names in Matthew’s side include Hannah Darling from Scotland, making her third Curtis Cup appearance.

The US team includes four of the top-ten players from WAGR®, namely Zoe Campos, Jasmine Koo, Catherine Park and Rachel Kuehn.

Captain Matthew

Catriona Matthew

Catriona Matthew is relishing the week ahead and said, “I’m really looking forward to the match at Sunningdale. We have selected eight players who we believe provide us the best opportunity of regaining the Curtis Cup against the United States of America on home soil.

“With all my experience as a professional in the Solheim Cup, as a player and captain, I’ve enjoyed the chance to go back to where it all started. I’m really excited about leading the team at Sunningdale.”
