England's Bronte Law finished in a triple tie for second place at the South American Amateur Championship at Lima Golf Club, Peru, after a final round 71.
The result marked a fantastic start to the season from the GB & I team player, from Cheshire, who finished one shot behind Paraguay's Sofia Garcia, who won the event for the second year in a row. Law, a student at UCLA and the current English champion, had an eagle 3 at the second and birdied the 15th but was undone by bogeys at the short seventh and the 16th.
Winner of the Helen Holm Scottish women's amateur championship Olivia Mehaffey (Royal Co Down Ladies), finished a close-up fifth on 283 with a final round of 71.
Meghan MacLaren (Wellinborough), a student at Florida International University, tied for eighth place on 289 after a closing round of 70 which included a double bogey 7 at the long second but also birdies at the ninth, 10th, 11th, 14th and 15th in an inward 33.
