Just six years old, Ana Paola Garcia is one to watch out for in the future. Already a force to be reckoned with on Mexico’s prestigious National Junior Tour, she has already won six times competing in the Girls 7-and-under division and once by 26 shots!
She finished third in her first competition before winning six straight Mexico Golf Federation regional tournaments, including victories by 20, 24 and 26 strokes. In her sixth event, she won by 10 strokes and achieved her first under-par round in competition.
Her most impressive victory to date was the 2014-2015 Mexico Junior Golf Association (MJGA) Tour Championship, which she won by four strokes - followed by the FMG (Mexico Golf Federation) Inter Zonas tournament in Tijuana which brought together the top five players from each of Mexico’s seven golf regions. Garcia finished second, just one stroke back from the champion.
“It is very rare that you find someone who loves the game as much as Ana Paola, and who has the talent and focus to compete so soon,” said Ian Moore, Director of Instruction at the Ochoa Golf Academy at Turtle Dunes Country Club in Acapulco. “This is her first year playing competitive golf. She loves to practice, loves to play and loves to compete..”
Garcia takes instruction from Moore twice each week at the Ochoa Golf Academy at Turtle Dunes Country Club on the grounds of the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.
Turtle Dunes Country Club features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tripp Davis. Set amidst ocean sand dunes and surrounded by a lush tropical sanctuary, the golf course features expansive water features and towering parota trees that frame the picturesque holes. Home to the Ochoa Golf Academy founded by LPGA star Lorena Ochoa.
