A shank can be caused by your weight being too far forward on your toes, so place a ball under each foot towards the front to help settle weight onto your heels. In this picture you can see that I am using a lofted club. I have kept the ball and club position the same, and the only thing that has changed is my weight distribution.

Ask someone to check your posture and alignment. Relax your grip pressure and consider where your weight is distributed through your feet.

Ensure that you are not standing too close to the ball.

It’s probably not a cure, but it could get you out of a bad day’s golf. When you finish your round, head to your local PGA professional.
