A player with a good short game is often talked about in the clubhouse with comments like, “You’d never believe it, she got up and down from 50 yards, every time.”
A player with a good short game is often talked about in the clubhouse with comments like, “You’d never believe it, she got up and down from 50 yards, every time.” YOU want to be that player and YOU can be.
Know Your Yardages
The easiest way is to know your yardages. Develop a two-yardage wedge distance with your wedges. This will give you two or three diff erent yardages with each club. Then buy a rangefi nder distance-measuring device from a company like Bushnell or Nikon. A GPS/watch is fi ne but a rangerfi nder is precise and can save you more shots.
Of course, your feet are a cheaper option and you can pace the yardage instead. If you know your exact yardage it is much easier to choose the right club for the shot.
Correct Alignment
Body alignment can also make a diff erence on the direction of pitch shots. By putting a club down on the line of the target, you can place your feet, hips and shoulders parallel to the club to line up correctly. When pitching half shots, it’s ok to have an open stance.
