We all fear the chip shot over a bunker. Luckily former Ladies European Tour pro Samantha Head us here to help with a step-by-step guide to playing this tough shot.

That moment when you realise you haven’t hit it hard enough and it falls short in the sand and then you hide your embarrassment by blaming the rough you’re in!

To keep the ball clean of sand, it’s important to set up correctly. Determine your target, and be aware that it  might not be the flag.

Aim your clubface at the target and align your feet to the left (right-handed golfers). This means your swing path will be out to in, lifting the ball higher naturally.

Keep the weight neutral in your stance (50/50), with the ball just ahead of centre.

This is a delicate shot; you want the club to do the work, while you just turn your body. Keep your arms very relaxed and make sure you have a good turn back and follow through, high and with conviction..
