Charlotte tests out the New Balance 574 Greens V2 golf shoes, a design inspired by the iconic Court Classics.

The spikeless 574 Greens V2 golf shoes combine a sleek, trainer-style aesthetic with advanced technologies tailored for golf. From their waterproof microfibre leather upper to the responsive DynaSoft® midsole and ultra-comfortable Cush+® insole, these women’s golf shoes promise both style and performance.

Ideal for golfers who value versatility, these golf shoes aim to deliver comfort for 18 holes while maintaining a look that transitions effortlessly from the course to the clubhouse.

A favourite amongst athletes and influencers alike, New Balance have long been renowned for designing trainers that offer maximum support and comfort. And now the much-loved brand has introduced a golf shoe range to their collection of stylish sports shoes.

But do they live up to the hype? With multiple pairs of New Balance trainers featuring firmly in my wardrobe, I was more than happy to put the new 574 Greens V2 golf shoes to the test.

Style that scores

New Balance knows how to create a stylish shoe, and the 574 Greens V2 is no exception. Drawing inspiration from their iconic Court Classic trainers, I love the cool, retro style of these golf shoes. And an added bonus is that they come in a choice of neutral, versatile colourways that pair perfectly with any outfit in any season.

I’m someone who loves shoes that can work both on and off the course, and these fit the bill perfectly. For me, they’re a 10/10 in the style stakes.

Comfort matters

After 18 holes, my feet usually feel like they’ve had enough, and I can’t wait to whip my golf shoes off when I’ve finished. But with the New Balance 574 Greens V2, I was pleasantly surprised – so much so that I usually keep them on for a drink in the clubhouse afterwards.

They’re soft and comfortable to walk in for a long period of time (that’s thanks to the Cush+® insole and lightweight DynaSoft® midsole), lightweight, breathable and waterproof – all big ticks when it comes to picking the perfect pair of golf shoes.

That said, I did find the shoes had a firm, high back, which did rub against my ankle a bit during the first wear. However, they’ve softened super quickly and now are as comfortable as any pair of trainers I own.

Waterproof for the win

Testing any golf shoe in the British weather sometimes feels like setting them up for failure, but the 574 Greens V2 more than held their own.

I got mine at the end of the summer and they’re still firmly my go-to golf show. I even wore them today as I attempted a few holes in Storm Bert (I know, I don’t know why either).

I’ve got a couple of pairs of trainer-type golf shoes and they’re both useless when it’s raining (or even just when the grass is wet). The 574 Greens V2, however, are waterproof and the grips feel super stable in any condition I’ve played in – rare wins for this type of golf shoe.

Swinging stability

While these shoes are fantastic for walking, they feel a bit more flexible than some of my more traditional golf shoes when it comes to stability. The NDurance outsole is designed to follow the natural motion of your foot, which is great in terms of comfort. However, I prefer a bit of a firmer base when I’m swinging, and I find I have to lace them up quite tight to achieve that.

We like...

  • Waterproof
  • Soft and comfortable to walk in
  • Look and feel like trainers
  • Neutral and versatile colours
  • Easy to wear on and off the course

We dislike...

  • I’ve felt more stable swinging in other golf shoes

Final Score

Stylish, comfortable, and reliable in wet conditions, the New Balance Women’s 574 Greens V2 ticks a lot of boxes. If you’re looking for a versatile, trainer-inspired golf shoe you can wear all-year round, this is a great choice.
