Built for speed, the XR Iron is Callaway's latest ladies iron designed with both distance and forgiveness in mind. Here Women & Golf put them to the test.
The Callaway XR is designed with an improved Cup 360 face which acts like a spring on shots hit low on the face, and increases ball speeds everywhere else on the face too. Meanwhile by lowering the centre of gravity along with the precise 2-piece, dual heat construction means a club designed with distance and forgiveness in mind.
Women & Golf Say: Callaway has always been one of the best brands in the business at building forgiving clubs and the new XR irons live up to that expectation. I found them incredibly easy to hit, and most importantly my mishits (heel or toe strikes) still produced the same forgiving flight. The bottom two grooves on the face are coloured white which made alignment easier. A couple of small criticisms - the shiny finish meant glare in bright light and the ball strike sound was hollow and took some getting used to.
