Odyssey's X-Act Tank Chipper is a club designed to make the short game a whole lot easier for golfers. Reader Pat Court took the club to her local course in Oxfordshire to see what she thought.
When faced with a chip I usually waiver between a PW, 9 or 8-iron so I was looking forward to trying the chipper! At address the club feels solid and has a very comfortable thick grip. With the white soft face, 37-degree loft and alignment lines I felt confident adopting a putting grip from a distance of 30 yards in. A smooth stroke lifted the ball over the fringe and towards the hole. From further away results were mixed, but with practice I’m sure a more consistent stroke could be achieved. This club does take the guesswork out of shots around the green. It won’t replace a club but if you don’t already carry 14 then it would be a useful addition.
