W&G REVIEW: Mizuno is a master-craftsman in irons - and their new JPX 850 hybrids promise to deliver more innovative technology. Here's a first look at the hybrid to see if it lives up to the hype.

Mizuno is a master-craftsman in irons and the new JPX 850 range of woods and hybrids look set to continue this innovative technology.

Offering ground breaking distance courtesy of a new 'Shock Wave Sole' that enables the entire clubbed to flex boosting energy into the ball - the new JPX 850 hybrids promise maximum length. The additional mass also lowers the head’s centre of gravity, maintaining high ball speeds directly off the turf.

W&G says: "This hybrid arrived around a lot of hype of potential distance gains and it didn't disappoint. It fired shots off the face with seemingly no swing effort, giving that real 'wow' factor - it made a lovely sound, solid feel and great shot-making control. The sleek clubhead cut through the light rough with ease - but the small size may not appeal to the higher handicapper as it may not be as forgiving as some of the larger hybrid clubheads."
