W&G REVIEW: Designed to deliver explosive distance with maximum forgiveness, we put the Callaway X2 Hot irons to the test to see if they live up to the revolutionary distance claim hype.

Callaway's X2 Hot irons are part of a complete line of distance-focused clubs. They have been designed to be longer, faster and more forgiving.

A deep central undercut increases the rate that the face flexes and rebounds, boosting ball speeds and distance. A stabilising arch makes the face stiffer for a great sound and feel, while moving the hot spot lower on the face and a repositioned centre of gravity increases forgiveness.

W&G says: "The X2 Hot irons offer a superb feel that instantly have the 'wow' factor. The two white grooves at the bottom of the clubface help square the club up easily at address making alignment simple. Also impressive is the finer details, like the soft grey grip colour and the pretty pattern on the shaft that give it a feminine touch. Performance wise they are hard to fault, the X2 are definitely powerful but revolutionary powerful? We're not so sure."
